Decadent Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
For the Chocolate cake Ganache:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions:
1. Preheat and Prepare:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3. Mix Wet Ingredients:
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
- Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Gradually stir in the boiling water until well combined. The batter will be thin - that's okay!
4. Bake:
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
5. Make the Chocolate Ganache:
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
- Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
- Add butter and stir until smooth and glossy.
6. Assemble:
- Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of chocolate ganache on top of one cake layer.
- Place the second cake layer on top and cover the entire cake with the remaining ganache.
7. Garnish (Optional):
- Decorate with chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or your favorite toppings.
8. Serve and Enjoy:
- Allow the ganache to set before slicing.
